Do I Need a Bail Agent?
A family member or friend is arrested. Now you need to decide if you should hire a bail agent.
As soon as someone is arrested you can call Absolute Bail Bonds to have them call the arresting agency on your behalf. This is a FREE service that saves you from sitting on hold and then trying to cut through all the red tape. We will get the arrested person’s name and birth date from you and then call you back as soon as we have the information on their charges and bail amount. We work with the jailers several times a day so we know the right numbers to call and the right questions to ask.
Once you have the information on the charges and bail amount, you can decide whether or not you want to use a bail agent. You can give the entire bail amount in cash directly to the county. So if the bail amount is $20,000, you give the county $20,000. After the court case against your family member or friend is finished, you will get your $20,000 back.
If you don’t have the full bail amount available in cash, that’s when you need a bail agent or bail bondsman. A bail bond will usually cost 10% of the full bail amount. So if it’s a $20,000 bail, the bond will cost $2,000. There are incidences where the bail amount can be discounted. If you own your own home or are a union member, active or retired military, an AARP member or have a private attorney, you may qualify for a 7% or 8% bail. Ask us when you call.
If you don’t have the $2,000 premium to use a bail agent, don’t worry because we can still help you. To make bail affordable for you we can set you up on a payment plan with the money that you do have available. Your payments will be based on your income and budget.
